CYFS was founded to respond to the urgent needs of vulnerable children, youth, and families in South Africa. In 1998, the Safmarine Centre was established in Wellington as a hub of hope for the Van Wyksvlei community. What was once a battleground for rival gangs became a safe space where young people could learn, grow, and thrive.
Through dedication, relationship‑building, and community partnerships, the Centre ran successful programs that helped reduce gang violence and uplift families. The work gained national recognition, including features on SABC’s Pasella program.
After years abroad, our founder returned in 2024 to relaunch CYFS as a registered NPC/PBO/NPO, restoring the Safmarine Centre and reigniting its mission to empower communities.
A South Africa where every child, youth, and family has the opportunity to thrive.
To empower children, uplift youth, and strengthen families through education, skills development, counseling, and community projects that break cycles of poverty and create lasting change.
